Things to do during February half-term

February half term can be full of family fun

We've had a look around the district (and beyond) to come up with a few ideas for you to try this February half term that won't break the bank.

Number 1

Spend a day in a museum

There are lots of events happening in Bradford museums across the district.

The 50 Things team are going to be running fun activities on different days at different venues throughout the week.

At Cliffe Castle in Keighley, you could hop on the Bradford Stories Bus and read a book on Tuesday; learn how to play musical stones on Friday; and grab a free tree for your garden on Saturday!

At Bolling Hall on Thursday, explore space and make a sundial with a local historic astrologer or see a theatre in a box for magical story telling sessions; or hop on the Stories Bus.

At Cartwright Hall Gallery, create portraits of local inventors out of light on Wednesday; get involved in a printing activity on Thursday; or take on a family challenge to see who can build the biggest chimney on Friday!

At Bradford Industrial Museum, make a (Jowett) car on Saturday; wreck some tech and make some art on Tuesday with artist Scott Chaney; create images of iconic Bradford on Wednesday; or get your hands wrinkly on Friday with a visit to the 1940s on wash day.

Get on a train

Steam-powered half term happiness – what’s not to like? From 11th to 19th February, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway has plenty to keep you busy, whatever the weather. Turn up on the day and buy your tickets or pre-book online at least 3 days in advance and save 15% on day rover tickets.

You can hop on and off at each of the six stations on the line as you wish with your day rover tickets. Enjoy the Exhibition Shed displaying vintage coaches and historic engines and visit the Carriage Works Museum to see one of the finest collections of restored railway carriages.
